It was an historic occasion…
… as Riccardo Chailly, one of the world's greatest conductors and musical perfectionists of his generation, bestowed the title of „Gewandhaus Brass Quintett“ upon the 5 brass musicians in 2008. The 20th Gewandhauskapellmeister was impressed by their versatility, wide repertoire and unique sound. Since then, Lukas Beno, Jonathan Müller, Jan Wessely, Tobias Hasselt and David Cribb have toured the world performing music ranging from the baroque period up to today, including numerous works commissioned by and written for the ensemble. In the last two years they commissioned five world premieres which are now availavle on their new CD "Customised". When you experience the Gewandhaus Brass Quintett live in concert, you encounter an ensemble comprised of some of the world’s finest brass players who combine to bring the unique Gewandhaus sound to the concert stage.
